Michael Stankov, Attorney-at-law with nomination for Young Lawyer of 2016 New Generation
Michael Stankov has received nomination in the category Young Lawyer of 2016 in the contest for Young Lawyers New Generation. The contest is organized by Standard Newspaper and the nominated lawyers have been evaluated by the Public Council consisting of representatives of the academic and the scientific communities, eminent jurists and public figures. Members of the jury are Professor Ognyan Gerdjikov, Professor Atanas Semov, Professor Sasho Penov, Professor Tsvetan Sivkov, Mr. Krasimir Dimitrov, Mr. Evgeni Ivanov (Chairman of the Association of the Prosecutors in Bulgaria), Mrs. Bogdana Zhelyavska (President of the Association of Judges in Bulgaria), Mrs. Elena Markova (Chairman of the Recordation Agency), Mr. Lyudmil Rangelov (lawyer), Mrs. Anelia Toroshanova (journalist). The participants shall be competing in four categories: Young Lawyer, Notary Public, Bailiff, Young Expert, Social Responsibility and Case of the Year. The prizes shall be awarded at a ceremony on Thursday, the 14th of July, 2016, in the Mirror Hall of the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Among the guests list would be the Vice President Margarita Popova, the Chairman of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva, the Minister of the Justice Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Ombudsman Maya Manolova and others.
Michael Stankov has graduated as Master of Law at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and is currently a PhD student in International Law. He has specialized English Law and European Union Law at the University of Cambridge. Before becoming a name partner at Stankov, Todorov, Hinkov & Spasov, Attorneys-at-law he conducted litigation cases in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, contractual and insurance law, maritime law and transport. He is a co-founder of the Institute of Private International Law. Since 2012, he has been an arbitrator in international and domestic cases in the Court of Arbitration to the Institute of Private International Law, having previously been an arbitrator at the International Arbitration Court at the Legal Interaction Alliance.
